Permanent residence for Ukrainian nationals with family members in Canada

Hello everyone,

I had just started to miss filling out applications and immigration forms after submitting my citizenship application — when, of course, another program appeared for Ukrainian family members.

I applied for my mom under this new program. Since it’s very new for everyone, there are still many unknowns — especially timelines and expectations. That’s why I decided to share our application journey, so we can all see how this program unfolds in real life.

The application process itself was fairly straightforward. I’m not sure if it’s necessary to explain every step here, but if you’d like more details, feel free to let me know and I’ll try to help.

So… fingers crossed 🤞
Ready, set, go!

📝 Notes & Clarifications

¹ Police Certificate
We received the police certificate through the Diia app in Ukrainian. For the English version, it was sent by mail to the Consulate of Ukraine in Edmonton (including tracking, a $40 cheque, a copy of the first page of the travel document, the completed form, and the Ukrainian police certificate).
The criminal record check was issued by the Consulate within one week and then submitted to IRCC.

² Medical Exam
My mom previously completed a medical exam in 2020 when she applied for a Super Visa.

³ IRCC Email (PR Portal – Initial Request)
Request to reply within 7 days with personal details such as eye color, height, UCI, date of entry to Canada, etc.

⁴ IRCC Email (PR Portal – Final Steps)
Request to sign in to the PR Portal, upload a photo, provide a Canadian mailing address, and confirm current residence in Canada (deadline: 7 days).

Canadian Citizenship Application / Timeline

Hello everyone! It's me😉

I can't believe it, but this day has come. Today I chose this date not by chance, it because 11th is my favorite. I just decided to continue our tradition with this date, as on 11th of July 2018 I got request of the passports for PR, also before I sent my whole package of the documents for NB PNP to the Fredericton on 11th of May 5 years ago . I can say it was my first step to our goal and now we are here, make the last steps to get our Canadian passport. Almost at the end of the Adventure that started 5years ago, from thought to implementation. I want to ask all of you- Never give up! Nothing is impossible.

I submitted my application for the Canadian citizenship online. In this post we will follow the time lines of the consideration.

Let's get start:

11.09.2023 - Application for Canadian Citizenship submitted online.
24.10.2023- Letter from IRCC "Missing information" .The application was resubmitted on the same day.
16.11.2023- AOR sent to email (Information in Online Account still not updated)
30.11.2023 -an email from IRCC "You are invited to further the processing of your citizenship application by taking the Online Canadian Citizenship Test." (30 days to pass the test).

21.12.2023. Test passed (Ivan) (17 out of 20 right answers)
31.12.2023. Test passed (Nadia) (19 out of 20 right answers)

03.02.2024. An email from IRCC about the Electronic Canadian Citizenship Certificate (e-Certificate)(how and where to uploaded after the Citizenship Ceremony)

05.02.2024 Email- NOTICE TO APPEAR: Ceremony To Take the Oath of Citizenship by Video Date of the Ceremony Feb 15th

15.02.2024. Online Ceremony of Citizenship

20.02.2024 A citizenship e-certificate downloaded 🙌

22.02.2024. Applied for the Canadian Passports (in person, walk-in in Service Canada)
12.03.2024. Passports received (sent by mail, regular delivery)

Yahoo!!!!🙌

P.S. 1 month later I received the refund to my bank account from IRCC for each day delay of the passport's delivery. It's mean when they inform you about the expected date when you get your passport, they will pay for delay if your passport won't be delivered in those date.
